Balanced water is a calculation, not a color.
The Langelier Saturation Index tells you whether your water is dissolving your plaster or depositing scale on it. It combines pH, temperature, calcium hardness, alkalinity, and total dissolved solids into a single number. We target 0.0 and hold within plus or minus 0.3, measured every visit on a LaMotte Spin Touch across 17 parameters.

Aggressive water pulls calcium out of your surface. The damage is cumulative and the fix is a resurface.
Scaled tile and heaters.
Depositing water leaves calcium on waterline tile and inside heat exchangers. Efficiency drops before anything visibly fails.

The CDC tracks pool chemical injuries through the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s injury surveillance system. From 2008 through 2017 they averaged 4,535 emergency department visits per year in the United States. Between 2015 and 2017 alone there were an estimated 13,508. About one in three were children.
